FTWUK was started back in May 2019, by Kier.
After not riding for a few years due to personal reasons, (his best friend died in front of him in a tragic RTA) he decided he wanted to get back to 2 wheels. However he found that his old biking buddies had either stopped riding, passed away tragically, didn’t have time, or life style changes happened.
With these issues facing him, he decided to create FTWUK, to meet like minded people, who wanted to go to new places and enjoy the freedom of 2 wheels & FTWUK was born.
Just before covid hit, the group was growing from strength to strength. With regular bike nights being organised in Essex weekly, and friendly ride outs covering Suffolk & Essex. Covid stopped all of that, however he kept the group alive and kicking with weekly quiz nights during the lockdown & checking up on members in the difficult times.
Restrictions lifted and the group came to life again!
Weekly bike nights and ride outs were back! But Kier had new ideas to push the group for, strength to strength.
Charity events was now a thing, first came raising money for Autism Anglia in April 2022- a day show with live bands for bikers to help raise money for a local cause. £615 was raised on the day for the charity.
October 2022 a coast to coast ride out for RNLI, riding from Mersea Island to Great Yarmouth saw £145 being raised by group members.
November 2022, a very wet day, saw Mens mental health being the focus, raising £108 for Mens Shed.
December 2022 was the final event of the year, with a fabulous Christmas Toy Run hosted with Full Throttle Cafe. Donating a few hundred toys, from drop offs to donations allowing us to purchase toys for the childrens ward at Colchester hospital. Even though it was a very cold day with minus temperatures a group of around 30 santas and elves turned up to bring some Christmas cheer!
Rideouts throughout the year saw biker cafes around East Anglia being visited by the group. Friendly marshalled rides for all the enjoy kept growing and growing in numbers with the best ride out of the year being the M25 memorial ride for HM Queen Elizabeth with well over 200 bikers joining in a ring of the m25 to pay their respects.
With a great team of admin behind him for 2023, the group has already gone and hit 4k members, with a brand new membership card available to all members to help save money, merchandise, a brand new coffee on the coast event starting in March on Saturdays to allow bikers to meet up in a relaxed environment. Fortnightly bike nights in Suffolk at a lovely village pub. A Charity Easter egg run in March for the childrens ward at Colchester hospital. Plus a bank holiday ride out coast to coast. All events can be found on Facebook, and are open to everyone to attend.
FTWUK have many more ideas and it only gets bigger and better!
